Pregnant Teenagers and Young Parents Resource Pack 2008/09

pregnant-teens-pack08-09 Published May 2008

A resource pack full of information and advice, aimed at those working with parents and parents-to-be aged under 18.

From the Teenage Pregnancy Unit's foreword to the pack:

"One Parent Families has drawn on its considerable knowledge of the practical problems facing young parents and its expertise in meeting the information and training needs of professionals to produce this resource. It will be invaluable to all those working within teenage pregnancy strategies to improve outcomes for teenage parents and their children."

The Pregnant Teenagers and Young Parents Resource Pack provides clear and accurate information on a wide range of subjects, including benefits, education, employment, childcare and housing.

The resource pack is written as a tool for professionals but designed to be of practical use to young parents as well: introductory sheets to each section are written directly to the professional but the contents sheets (designed to be removed and photocopied as necessary) are written in a question-and-answer format to the young person. Pull-out boxes, tables and sample letters are used to break up the text and provide key information in a clear and accessible fashion.

Each resource pack also includes a copy of the full-colour magazine Money for Teenage Parents, a question-and-answer guide to the benefits system written directly to young parents. Additional copies of the magazine can be ordered on a standalone basis - see below.

One Parent Families has been delighted with the reception to its relaunch of this excellent product. Written in conjunction with its previous authors at the Maternity Alliance, and published with the support of the Teenage Pregnancy Unit, the Pregnant Teenagers and Young Parents Resource Pack will continue to be a key resource for those working with young parents and parents-to-be.
