Money for higher education students: a guide for lone parents

Updated 19 August 2008

Read this factsheet below or download as a PDF.

This factsheet covers the main types of financial help available to lone parents who are starting higher education (for example, undergraduate degrees, Higher National Diplomas) as full-time students from September 2008. If you began your course before September 2008 or are studying part time, contact the Lone Parent Helpline for advice, as different rules will apply.

There are also different sources of funding available for students training to be teachers, health professionals and social workers. Call the Lone Parent Helpline on 0800 018 5026 for details of organisations that can give you advice and information.
