Holidays 2008: the guide for lone parents

If you go abroad, you continue to be entitled to Income Support and any Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit for up to four weeks. Inform your Jobcentre Plus Office before you go and benefits for the period you are away will be paid on your return.

Tax credits are not affected if you leave the UK for less than eight weeks. For more information  or to find out what the situation is if you claim jobseeker's allowance call the Lone Parent Helpline (0800 018 5026).
