Free information for lone parents on a range of topics, including money after separation, benefits and tax credits and maintenance. We can also provide details of helpful organisations throughout the UK.

Provides information and advice about how to apply to member charities for financial help.



British Gas Energy Trust

Provides grants to help their customers 'in need' to meet arrears of energy charges and other household bills and costs.



Citizens Advice Bureau
Check your telephone directory for your local bureau or find details on www.citizensadvice.org.uk.
Your local bureau may have a specialist money adviser who can help you. Their advice website - www.adviceguide.org.uk - has information on debt and a number of factsheets including budgeting sheets and sample debt letters.

Collects child maintenance for your child from the non-resident parent.



Community Legal Service Direct (part of the Legal Services Commission)

Can help you to find solicitors and sources of legal help. Also provides free initial independent telephone advice about debt and welfare rights and produces leaflets Dealing with debt and Welfare benefits, available on the website or by request from the helpline.



Consumer Credit Counselling Service

Provides free, independent, impartial and realistic advice to those in financial difficulty. Also has a specialist advisory service providing counselling on personal budgeting, advice on the use of credit and managing plans to repay debts.

Provides grants for home insulation and heating improvements in England and Wales to qualifying homeowners and tenants.



Energy Watch

Deals with complaints on behalf of consumers who are experiencing difficulty in resolving problems with their energy suppliers.



National Debtline
