What happens if Good Cause is accepted?

If the Jobcentre Plus decision-maker decides you do have Good Cause not to apply to the CSA, they may set a date when it will be reconsidered. This could be at any time up to three years from the date of the decision.

This means a further Good Cause Interview may be held and a fresh decision made. It won't be enough to say circumstances have not changed. You must explain why there is still a risk of undue harm and distress. If you do not provide enough reasons to support good cause a Reduced Benefit Decision may be made.

If Good Cause was accepted because of rape or incest a reconsideration date may not be set.

Can I change my mind about applying to the CSA?

Whether Good Cause is accepted or not, if your circumstances change, or you feel differently about the situation you can make an application to the CSA at any time.
