Which CSA scheme do I come under?

Since 3 March 2003 there have been two CSA schemes in operation. This factsheet covers both schemes; but we will tell you where there are slight differences.

In simple terms, if you had a CSA assessment before 3 March 2003 when the new system came in, yours is an 'old rules' case.

If the non-resident parent (NRP) becomes liable to pay maintenance (this is the date the CSA contact the NRP) after 3 March 2003, it is a 'new rules' case.

Some 'old rules' cases may be brought over to the new scheme - the CSA will tell you if this happens to your case. For more information ask for our booklet Maintenance Through the CSA.
