Can mediation help me?

If you are trying to resolve a dispute - for example, about children, property or money - you may wish to use a mediator to help you. Mediation is not suitable for everyone (for example, if the other person makes you feel bullied or intimidated) but it may help you to come to an agreement earlier and less painfully than if you go through the court process.

If you are on a low income, you may get help with the costs of mediation as well as the costs of legal advice while you are going through the process. For more information see our Getting Legal Help factsheet.
