Hi, this is my first post..

I have three children, two of whom have Fragile X Syndrome (a form of mental retardation) my Ex and his new partner have been a constant source of trauma since my ex and i first split over two years ago. I thought all had calmed down until recently.. I have received abusive text messages from my Ex's partner, and also been verbally attacked in front of my children by my ex, who doesn't approve of the way i care for them. My ex has no idea at all what work or appointments are involved in the care of my children, and has had no interest in their progress to date. He doesn't even know where my children go to school!. Yet, now he claims that i am an unfit mother and wishes to obtain a court order for full custody (at present he sees them once a week) I believe this is because they are trying to get a bigger house (she has 3 children of her own and they live in a a 3 bed property) as he has already asked me to provide my childrens doctors details so he can ask them to contact the local housing authority on the back of their special needs.

I am by no means perfect, but i do my best and adore my children, whom are very happy. I have, like most people messed up in the past, and am terrified that they will take my children away from me, i'm at my wits end with the constant verbal attacks and just want to live a quiet life with my kids, does anyone have any advice???

Moderator: Hi. For advice on your contact issues with your ex, you can call our Lone Parent Helpline on 0800 018 5026. Tell the person on the switchboard that you have children with additional needs - then you will be given priority access to a specialist advisor.
