allie: I became a lone parent of two kids in 2003 when my youngest was 3 months old. She has now been diagnosed with cancer. I went to mediation which my ex asked for and basically sorted out a lot of things concerning the kids.

fedup: Hi my partner left me after 16years to look after our 3 boys. They have been unwell since birth with various probelms including dyspraxsia, speech delays, allergies, learning delays etc. I am sure you get the picture.


learning disabilities/ residential school

pops: Hi! I'm a recently single parent with 3 boys, one who has severe learning disabilities, with autistic features, he is 11 years old and goes to a residenial school. as no other school could cope with him.

hi - Im new to this and not sure if its really the right place to be but here goes..... I have a duaghter who is 13 going on 16 she attends a MLD school and has dyspraxia, MLD and poss ADHD. she is driving me mad, she is negative about everything, bored with everything and is mentally abusive towards me.

The Holidays

I don't know how everyone else is coping with the holidays but my 3 go a few days each week to a local Holiday Club for both special needs and 'normal' children. Its expensive but worth it. My mum helps a lot as well or I wouldn't manage to get the housework done with the kids around.

AspieMum: Hi! I'm a single mum with Aspergers Syndrome (an Aspie - hence my nickname) and I am Hard of Hearing. I've 3 boys. The oldest, age 8, has Global Developmental Delay. The other 2 are 5 year old twins.
