You can continue to claim Income Support no matter how old your dependent children are if you:

are pregnant and within 11 weeks of your expected week of childbirth;
are a foster parent;
have a health condition or disability that affects your ability to work and would be entitled to claim the new Employment and Support Allowance (this replaces Incapacity Benefit from November 2008); or
receive Carer's Allowance, or you are caring for a child with a disability who receives the middle or highest rate of Disability Living Allowance.
