Move to the Jobseekers’ Allowance regime for lone parents whose youngest child is aged 12 would be wrong

April 2007 One Parent Families believes that the evidence at present suggests a move to the Jobseekers' Allowance regime for lone parents whose youngest child is aged 12 would be wrong . It fails to take accounts of the needs of lone parents and their children, is unlikely to help those who need the most support, and will do very little to promote sustainable employment. Moreover, implementation of this regime would be expensive and burdensome for already hard pressed Jobcentre Plus staff.
