A couple of months ago I found out about a ‘blogathon’ where participants would write and update their blogs every half hour for 24 hours to raise money for charity. I thought it sounded like fun (foolish, I know).

In order to participate I had to choose a charity. I thought about how much my blog helped me through the worst. It had given me a voice and helped me figure out who I was supposed to be now that ‘that life’ and ‘that me’ had been taken away. I decided to choose a charity that did the same thing for other single parents struggling through those terrible years. I chose One Parent Families.

For 24 hours starting at 1pm BST, I wrote and updated my blog every half hour. As it got further and further past midnight I found it extremely difficult to see, let alone write... but I did it. As of this writing I have raised just over £600.00, including two anonymous donations of £100 each!

I am still collecting donations for One Parent Families because I recently agreed to run the Dublin Marathon on October 25^th with my sister. Foolish, I know.
