01/06/04 Ex -England, Watford and Aston Villa football manager Graham Taylor hosted an all-day, five-a-side football fundraising event organised by One Parent Families and The Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBSG). Fifteen RBSG teams took part to raise money for our direct services for single parents. We hope the event will raise around £10,000 towards our work.

Graham Taylor became an Ambassador for the charity in 2001 after his daughter's marriage had broken up and she became a single mother. "I've learnt that divorce or separation can affect a whole family", Graham said. "People need to know that One Parent Families is a charity that they can turn to for advice. There's got to be far more appreciation of what being a lone parent is like. If by being an Ambassador for One Parent Families it helps to get real recognition for lone parents and what they achieve, I am more than happy to do my bit."

Stephen Moir, Community Investment Manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, said: "RBS has been a supporter of One Parent Families for over two years, funding the Lone Parent Helpline. The football event gave staff the opportunity to engage with the charity directly for the first time. It also generated much-needed funds and raised the profile of the charity amongst RBS staff."
