Lone Parents Returning to Work aims to ease the transition into work. It prepares lone parents and ensures they know about all the support that can make it possible.
 The programme offers a three-day work preparation training (within school hours), tailored for lone parents, including:
- confidence building, employability skills, communication, work/life balance;
 - information about tax credits and childcare options;
 - referral to organisations who can offer help and advice;
 - induction training with Marks & Spencer;
 - two-week work experience placements, flexible to fit around school hours;
 - buddies - support during placements;
 - meals, travel costs and uniform provided;
 - support - each participant will have access to support via One Parent Families|Gingerbread before, during and after their placement, including a telephone helpline;
 - a strategy and action plan for every participant when they leave, which includes links to agencies such as Sure Start and Jobcentre Plus for employment, and further training and guidance.
 How lone parents will benefit: - Our programme will help lone parents make an informed decision about whether returning to work is right for them.
 - It will prepare parents for the world of work and refer them to jobs or other training opportunities.
- It will provide valuable and recent work experience for inclusion on CV's
- It will also help to build essential employability skills such as confidence, communication and an understanding of the work-life balance.
