Training for those working with Pregnant Teenagers and Young Parents

 Rights for Pregnant Teenagers and Young Parents
 "A very useful day. Excellent trainer, very knowledgeable and flexible - lots of questions which were not scheduled as part of the training package were answered fully and clearly." Course participant, September 2008.
 The course covers:- The state benefits available, including rules for under 18s and under 16s, provision for care leavers, new rates and the Healthy Start scheme
- How to access and challenge the state benefits system
- Employment rights, including current maternity rights
- State benefits and work, including protection from discrimination
- State benefits and training, including access to the Education Maintenance Allowance
- Help with childcare, including information on Care to Learn

 Participants will receive a comprehensive training pack,including the 2008/09 edition of the Money for Teenage Parents magazine, and a completion certificate.
 Who should attend?
 Specialist teenage pregnancy advisers, Connexions workers, Children's Information Service workers, health visitors, midwives, youth workers, Sure Start workers, leaving care workers, youth off ending team workers, Jobcentre Plus benefits advisers, housing workers, Reintegration officers, and anyone with an interest in the welfare of young mums and dads.

 Commissioned courses
 Training from £72.50 per person*
 If there are several people working with teenagers or young parents in your region, it may be worth commissioning a course for up to 20 people. For £1,450 (+VAT & trainer expenses), we will provide a trainer, all training materials, including a copy of the Money for Teenage Parents magazine, and course completion certificates for all 20 participants. Participants are also eligible for a £5 discount on the cost of a Pregnant Teenagers and Young Parents Resource Pack, as well as reductions on other publications in this range.
 You will need to provide a suitable venue in your area, and make catering arrangements if you require lunch for participants.

 Our programme of open courses
 If you would prefer to attend a course on a ‘pay per participant' basis, then you could choose to book a place on an ‘open' course near you. It's simple. Just check which date and location from schedule on the back of this form is most convenient for you and fax or post us your application form. We provide the venue, the catering, the trainer, the equipment and all the materials - all you need to do is turn up on the day!
 Costs of open courses- Voluntary/charitable organisations £150 per trainee

- Statutory organisations/local authorities £195 per trainee
