Annual Review 2006/07
In March 2007, the Trustees of One Parent Families and Gingerbread agreed to work towards a merger as early as possible in 2007/08, achieved through a transfer of undertakings from Gingerbread to One Parent Families. The merger came into effect on 31 May 2007, bringing together the strengths of both charities to enhance support for lone parents and their children.

We propose to continue Gingerbread's excellent work in providing local services and opportunities for one parent families, such as the financial capability action learning programme and resource pack funded by the Financial Services Authority, as well as community learning projects in the North-West and North London supporting lone parents who are at an early stage of the process of returning to work, funded by the Learning & Skills Council and local authorities. We also plan to build upon its very active membership scheme, offering information, support and a wide range of benefits to the hundreds who join each month.

Combined with One Parent Families' long-standing expertise in the provision of help, advice, information, training and high-profile policy and research work, One Parent Families|Gingerbread is uniquely well placed to offer a holistic and fully integrated range of services to all lone parent families, those who work with them and those who make decisions that affect them.

The Trustees, management and staff are undertaking a review of the vision and mission of the merged charity and will be developing a new corporate identity during the coming year.
